There are many different methods of assigning number values to letters, and these methods are called ciphers. Here are some of the most common ciphers.

The most important ciphers are Simple English Gematria, Reverse Simple English Gematria, Pythagorean (Reduction) and Reverse Pythagorean, these are considered as the "base 4" ciphers for the English language. The next most important ciphers are Latin Gematria and Standard English Gematria. You can learn more about each cipher by selecting it in the ciphers tab and hovering over the ? icon.

Gematria is relevant when two thematically related words have the same gematria, the more ciphers that match the stronger the connection.

Gematria is relevant when it corresponds with a date or some kind of time span. The number of days from one event to another related event is relevant, the number of days between and the span of days can also be relevant.
