Penguins Goalie Tristan Jarry Scores a Goal
During the waning moments of last night’s game hosting the Tampa Bay Lightning, the Pittsburgh Penguins held on to a one-goal lead when the visitors pulled their goalie. In their desperation to penetrate Pittsburgh’s zone, a pass slipped through the front line and leaked out to goaltender Tristan Jarry, who corralled the puck on the tape of his stick and launched it towards the other end of the rink.
In what is actually one of the rarest plays in all of sports, Jarry’s effort wound up on target and he became just the 14th NHL player to score a Goalie goal, and only the 9th to do so with a Shot on Goal.
Despite there being so few instances of a goaltender scoring in the 100+ year history of the NHL, longtime New Jersey Devils player Martin Brodeur scored three of them during his career.
After Jarry scored, the clock stopped after the goal with 68 seconds remaining in the game:
Brodeur was born on Mary 6th, or 5/6:
Adam Johnson
The Pittsburgh Penguins have been a point of focus on this Blog recently. Check out this post on the tragic death of Adam Johnson, who played for the Penguins for a short time several years ago. Johnson was born on the 173rd day of the year:
Johnson was killed by the Steel blade of an ice skate against a team named the Steelers. The NFL’s Steelers also play in Pittsburgh – also see this follow-up after the Pittsburgh Steelers won their 666th game a few days later.

As I pointed out above, Jarry became the 14th player to score a Goalie goal, and the 9th to do so off a Shot on Goal.

It takes the 12-month Lunar calendar 33 years to fall back in sync with the 365-day Solar calendar. See my post from 2020 explaining how Pennsylvania is connected to the Moon.
Don’t believe me that The Moon is responsible for last night’s special feat?
Check out the all-time franchise record for the Pittsburgh Penguins after last night’s game – 2000-1800:
This boils down to the digits 218.
This is the 57th NHL season since the Penguins were founded in 1967. Tristan Jarry has a Life Lesson number of 57:
And finally…the phrase Goalie goal has matching Extended and Reverse gematria with Moon.
