The date was March 31st, or 3/31
Many people believe that Jesus was born on the 11th of September, or 11/9. This event had Standard numerology of 119 and left 275 days on the calendar:

The first, as well as many subsequent WrestleManias, featured popular pro wrestling protagonist Hulk Hogan in the main event, where he captured a victory.
Hulk Hogan is a life-long follower of Jesus Christ. He was almost always seen wearing a Cross around his neck, something he still does to this very day.
Cross has matching 74 gematria with Jesus and Terry Gene Bollea, the real name of Hulk Hogan, which also matches Jesus Christ.

The WWE hosts WrestleMania annually just after the beginning of Spring, during the time of Aries, which is the first sign of the Cardinal Cross. WrestleMania I also had Reduced numerology of 20:
Hogan’s tag team partner in the main event was actor Mr. T. The letter T is the 20th of the alphabet and is the shape of a Cross, which sums to 20 in Reduction.
Mr. T, whose bevy of aesthetic accessories seemed to always include a Cross of some sort, was born on the 142nd day of a leap year, and Hulk Hogan was born on the date leaving 142 days in the following year:
