What’s up with the name Bankman-Fried anyway? I’ve seen plenty of women with double last names, usually with their maiden and married names, and this is also a custom in Hispanic culture. Clearly, neither is the case with Sam.
As it turns out, his dad’s name is Bankman while his mom’s name is Fried. So, they just gave him both names.
How arrogant must you be to stamp your child with two last names? If your kid grows up and gets married to a girl who also got both her parents’ last names, are they supposed to give their child all four last names? If not, how do they choose with ones to use?
This is something people do when they think they’re better than others. “To hell with everyone before us who built these traditionally-excepted customs…they’re not good enough for us! We need people to see how unique and special WE are!”
