Bob Harlan served as the president and CEO for the NFL’s most winningest franchise, the Green Bay Packers. Green Bay is in my home state of Wisconsin, and up until 1994, the Packers played three home games per season in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, which is home to Major League Baseball’s Brewers.

Last January, Brewers radio broadcaster Bob Uecker passed away. The two men share a first name. Furthermore, Uecker won a World Series with the St. Louis Cardinals before becoming the Brewers’ radio announcer. Bob Harlan worked for the St. Louis Cardinals before being hired by the Green Bay Packers.

The last Brewers game Bob Uecker commentated was a heartbreaking playoff loss against the New York Mets. On August 9th, or 8/9 of last year, a devastating storm struck Milwaukee as the Brewers were again playing the Mets. This rain led to the flooding of my own home here in the city, forcing a full rebuild of my basement. Check out my post on that personal disaster. A driver named Robbie Brewer even died on-track during a race as those rains began.
