Austin Ekeler Tears Achilles Against Packers on Thursday Night
In the opening game of the NFL’s Week 2, the Washington Commanders visited the Green Bay Packers on September 11th. Throughout the night, commentators discussed how this was a rematch of a game in 2001, where Washington visited Green Bay in each team’s first game after the September 11th attacks.
In the fourth quarter of last night’s contest, Commanders running back Austin Ekeler fell to the turf after suffering what appears to be a torn Achilles tendon. Ekeler played in his very first NFL game on September 11th back in 2017.
It’s quite intriguing that this occurred against the Packers. On September 11th of 2023, former Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers tore his Achilles during just his fourth play with the New York Jets.
