Two Killed in Crash Between Mexican Navy Vessel and Brooklyn Bridge
This story made headlines on the morning of May 18th, or 5/18.
The Brooklyn Bridge leads to a road called FDR Drive on the western end. In one of my most recent posts, I discussed a major story involving former FBI Director James Comey, who wrote a book called FDR Drive that is set for release tomorrow.
FDR stands for Franklin Denalo Roosevelt. He was elected in 1933 to replace Herbert Hoover, who turned the Francis Scott Key poem The Defence of Fort M’Henry as the national anthem.
The newest pope of the Catholic Church is the 267th in its history. He replaced the 266th pope.

The ship involved is the ARM Cuauhtémoc, which is affectionately known in English as the Knight of the Seas.
The national anthem of America is The Star-Spangled Banner, the words for which were written by Francis Key, who was born in 1779.
This is important because last year, a bridge in Baltimore named after Francis Key collapsed in a very similar incident. Just like the Cuauhtémoc, the MV Dali lost power before drifting into the bridge:

One of the cadets killed in the Mexican ship’s collision with the Brooklyn Bridge was named América Sánchez.
