Death of John Paul I Connected to John / Paul of The Beatles
In 1957, John Lennon met Paul McCartney. The two men would form a partnership that literally changed the world, joining forces to become the brainchild behind the the Beatles. The two men agreed to put both of their names on all of the songs they wrote, even if one of them was not involved in the process. Their initial meeting occurred on July 6th, or 7/6.
The fact that the most famous duo in the world was named John and Paul is noteworthy. Barely a year after the two men met, the Catholic Church found itself with a Pope named John for the first time since the 14th century – Pope John XXIII.
John XXIII died in 1963, paving way for the first Pope named Paul since the early 17th century. Pope Paul VI began his papacy just a few months before the Beatles first set foot on American soil.
This would be an intriguing synchronicity on its own. But after the death of Paul VI in 1978, the next pope chose the name Pope John Paul I, the first Pope ever to use a double name.
John Paul I, whose real name was Albino Luciani, did not last very long, dying barely one month after taking over. His death fell 33 days after his papacy began:
