Ex-Virginia Lieutenant Governor Justin Fairfax Dies in Murder-Suicide
Born in Pittsburgh, PA, Justin Fairfax became the lieutenant governor of Virginia in 2018, serving under Ralph Northam for the entirety of their four-year term. Fairfax and his wife Cerina have now died in Fairfax County, Virginia, which is home to the Central Intelligence Agency.

After replacing them with Republican leadership in 2022, Virginia welcomed the Democrats back to the state’s top office in January 2026 as Abigail Spanberger became their newest governor, with Indian-born Ghazala Hashmi as her lieutenant governor:
