NASCAR Champion and Hall of Famer Bobby Allison Dies @ 86
One-time NASCAR Champion Bobby Allison passed away on Saturday, November 9th. Just hours later, his death was announced over the loudspeakers at Phoenix Raceway, just before the start of the NASCAR Xfinity Series Championship Race.
The season Championship was won by JR Motorsports driver Justin Allgaier, whose last name begins with the same three letters ‘All‘ as Bobby Allison’s. As such, there are strong numerical connections between these two men – for instance, Allgaier was born in the year ’86, while Allison died at 86 years of age.
However, Allgaier was not the race winner – that honor went to Stewart-Haas driver Riley Herbst, who had been eliminated from the playoffs in a prior race.
Allison was born less than one day after the only Annular eclipse of 1937. He was part of a group of drivers called the Alabama Gang – see my post on the 1331 code to learn how the state of Alabama was a state of high significance to the two Great American Eclipses.
