Parabolica
There was quite a fascinating “coincidence” in today’s race at Monza. In the opening laps, Ferrari driver Charles Leclerc was struggling, already losing several positions. Pushing his car to the limit, the skidded off at the track’s final turn called Parabolica, causing a Red Flag:
It’s interesting, because exactly six years earlier (the same year Pierre Gasly won), he had a virtually-identical crash at Parabolica, which also brought out a Red Flag:
In his first-ever Practice session at Monza in 2024, Antonelli set a blistering couple of laps before crashing into the same wall at Parabolica:
Antonelli later joined Formula One for his first Grand Prix in 2025.
Parabolica gets its name because the curve is similar to that found in a Parabola, which is found in the Fibonacci spiral based on the Golden Ratio, which begins with 1.618:
